In 2012, we were commissioned to redesign the public spaces of Washington DC’s iconic Watergate Hotel, originally designed by Luigi Moretti in the 1960s. Spanning the ground and lower ground floors, the spaces include the lobby, whisky bar, dining venues, terraces, and circulation areas. Our design complements Moretti’s curves with patinated metals, layered woodwork, and textured stone, while introducing custom furniture and rugs. Beyond interiors, we developed the hotel’s corporate identity, signage, and typography, blending heritage with contemporary sophistication in this national landmark.
